3 Warning Signs that it’s Time to Change Your Oil
There is a lot that goes into maintaining your car. Changing the oil is one task that will need to be done routinely by either a Calgary mechanic or can be done by yourself. Some cars come equipped with equipment indicating you need your car oil changed, but not all. For those cases be sure to look out for these signals indicating you may be in need of an oil change
1. You Hear Strange Noises Coming From Your Engine
If you hear any strange noises coming from your engine you should get it checked out. However, one common reason for strange noises is old oil. When your oil needs to be changed your engine's rods can knock or rub together creating strange noises. Try changing out your oil to solve the issue.
2. Your Oil Has Turned Black
Oil is typically a dark honey color but if it turns black this means it needs to be changed immediately. Check your oil by going underneath the hood and looking for dark particles.
3. You Have Noticed a Burning Oil Smell
This could be a number of things, but it could be a safety hazard. When you smell burning oil it could mean your oil levels are low or your engine is overheating. Be sure to refill your oil manually or visit your local cardealership to have your oil changed.
If you have noticed any of these warning signs try changing out the oil. If the problems persist, be sure to visit a Calgary mechanic to solve the issue. Typically these will have to do with needing an oil change, but not always. Checking your oil first is a great way to save money and a trip to the mechanic.
